Focus is a status effect that prevents a player from being affected by most Sleep and Confuse abilities used by an enemy or confused ally for three rounds. It is automatically applied to a player after a Sleep or Confuse ability wears off or is dispelled by an ability such as Soothe or Roar.

At the moment, the only exception to the power of Focus against sleep-inducing abilities is when a wizard uses Exhaust, which is the special ability of the Malevolent Staff. If the wizard is Focused at the time, Exhaust will dispel Focus then put the wizard to sleep.
